Dr. Andrea Markovic
Dr. Andrea Markovic is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo and her M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Brock University. Dr. Markovic is currently employed on a part-time basis at the Hospital for Sick Children where she provides assessment and therapy to children and adolescents presenting with obesity and mental health and/or medical conditions.
Dr. Markovic obtained her clinical training in a variety of settings including a university-based psychological services centre, community hospitals, day treatment, and private practice across the United States and Canada. She completed her clinical residency at the London Health Sciences Centre where she worked at the Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario and the Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI). She has conducted and published research on the role of peer relationships and friendships in psychological functioning of shy children and adolescents.
Dr. Markovic specializes in providing assessment and therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults for a range of psychological concerns including anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, developmental trauma, disturbances in attachment, interpersonal difficulties, and eating disorders. She also has a background helping youth with neurocognitive and/or developmental conditions. While her primary approach is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she tends to incorporate elements of other evidence-based treatment techniques in order to individualize care to the unique needs of her clients. Dr. Markovic is particularly interested in working with youth and adults who are struggling with anxiety, interpersonal difficulties, poor body image, and eating disorders.
