Dr. Val Vorstenbosch

Dr. Valerie Vorstenbosch is a clinical psychologist, registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Ryerson University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship through the Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, which offers specific expertise in the assessment and treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders (e.g., OCD, hair pulling, skin picking, and body dysmorphic disorder). She worked as a staff psychologist in the Eating Disorders Program at Homewood Health Centre and received training through the Anxiety Treatment and Research Clinic at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton; Work, Stress and Health Service and Mood and Anxiety Services at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health; and Investigating Methods to Prevent, Assess, and Care for Trauma Lab at Ryerson University. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT) and Ontario Psychological Association (OPA).

Dr. Vorstenbosch practices in the areas of clinical and counselling psychology. She works collaboratively with clients and provides a supportive environment that builds on clients’ strengths. She provides evidence-based assessment and treatment for adults with various psychological concerns, including depression, anxiety and other stress-related concerns, OCD and related disorders, trauma-related disorders, poor body image, and eating disorders. Her therapeutic approach is primarily based on cognitive-behavioural principles and includes elements of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
